A win is a win. Today's apt motto.
Reading between the lines of the press conference after the game, it seems that Brown can't wait to get his veterans back, McKie moves to much more guard play and Salmons will sit.
At this point, with only these healthy players, they are an average NBA team, about equal in strenghts and weaknesses. In theory, they should improve with more personnel, but interactions and minutes will be dicey for a while.
Defensively, they were rarely in the famous "lock down" mode of two years ago. They seemed to be working hard. Allen and Cassell can score on anyone. Kuckoc was red hot.Even when they get the full complement you don't have an offensive and defensive squad , like football, so something will have to give.
Van Horn will have to play alot, and hopefully get suitable defensive match-ups. I believe he is a better jump shooter than he has shown thus far. Everybody except MacCullogh has missed the chippies in the first two games. I can not explain this, perhaps others have an explantion(more than "they suck ho ho ho", like on that numbskull site, please).
This has been about what I expected thus far, although the subtle but noticeable style change for Iverson is a fascinating subplot. Can he become the part time point folks yearn for?He is going to be on the court. for sure. It is all mental. He guards the point or the outside guard , as opposed to the more often post -up type guard, already. Time will tell.
