I've got another scouting report on Darko's play yesterday. Yes, he fumbled the ball a couple of times. But he was a difference maker defensively. He blocked two shots and changed a bunch of others and he was only scored on once (Granted, that was ugly. Shirley?! He got scored on by someone named Shirley? That's my grandmother's name!) Overall, a great performance defensively. On offense, he only touched the ball 5 times. Twice he couldn't handle the pass (turnover) one of which was a touch pass on a fast break that should have been an easy layup. Once he launched a long jump shot that looked pretty good but rimmed out. Another time he recieved a pass under the basket and couldn't quite get a decent shot off (he ended up getting blocked). The last time was an offensive rebound and putback for his only two points of the night. His passing was outstanding for a rookie big man, let alone an 18 year old. His rebounding was a little weak. I'm beginning to get a bit concerned over his seemingly poor hands. Why can't this kid catch?
That aside, he played pretty well, was only rarely out of position, and played a significant role in holding the Bulls to 15 points in the fourth quarter (and thus keeping the under seventy streak alive). I think he would play on most teams right now, not because he's the #2 pick, but because he could be a 14/7.5/2/2/1.5 player with good man defense if given starter minutes. Most teams would find time for a player like that. The Pistons are one of the few that wouldn't. They are, after all, the only team currently starting 2 of the 10 best interior defenders in the league. Nonetheless, Darko has been looking pretty good lately. He's not ready in that he is still making mistakes. To my eyes at least, he is ready in that he helps the team. That which is does right is now significantly outweighing that which he does wrong.

thanks for the scouting report. the thing i like is he seems to be getting better. i noticed that the team outscored the bulls(big deal) something like 25-15 in the 4th quarter. their defense with darko in there must of been pretty solid. i would like to see him get a little more fired up out there, he seems tentative, this guy is a work in progress, as opposed to a project, so it may take some time. again thanks for the info.
