The 76ers thought they had found their 2nd offensive option the past two years, and both guys dissapointed, I guess.

I still think Philly should have held onto Van Horn. The loss of Van Horn didn't kill the team, but along with injuries, Glenn Robinson did IMO.

Dalembert and Kenny Thomas are a very formidable big-man combo, but the 76ers desperately need another young scorer with AI, not a guy like Glenn Robinson.
More than anything else, what killed the Sixers is the fact they're still paying for that ungodly contract they gave Dikembe Mutombo, because he was playing the best basketball of his life through the 2001 playoffs. When they switched up the whole team after that season, they expected the same Mutombo.. they didn't get him.

So they went and traded him for MacCullouch and KVH, two players with substantial contracts hoping that they'd fill the needs to bring the Sixers back to the finals. It didn't work. We all know what happened with Big Mac, and we traded KVH got Big Dog, and in the long run I think that was a good move, because Big Dog has the shorter contract. While there's no denying the negative impact Big Dog has had on this team, there's no way to say that if the team had KVH that the Sixers would've made the playoffs. I actually don't see how they could.

The direction this team is going, is probably to move Iverson. At this point of his career he's not going to be able to be the top option for a team, especially if he's not going to rehab his knee injury. Iverson needs to end up on a team with a solid foundation where there's someone on the team (or in the organization) that he would respect and listen to when they advise him. His situation here, was a bad situation from the start that was covered until after Brown left, with guys like AI you can't let them do whatever they want, you have to be firm from the start.

With the Sixers as a team, and organization in a transitional period, they can't afford to keep Iverson. So they have to try and find the best deal available. In the end it'd be the best situation for both sides.
