I'm thinking if he averages something like 10 and 7 next year, still shows inconsistencies, still looks lost, should we even bother with him?
I don't think we should let our past mistakes cloud our judgment- I don't want to see us resign him based on potential, something we'll have been waiting 4 years to see, and conversely; I don't want us to give into his demands for a huge contract if he goes for a decent 15/9. He's got to be looking around at the truckloads of cash being thrown around at mediocre players recently and thinking he could really cash in next year.

Wouldn't Kwame becoming a star elsewher be more of a Jermaine O'Neal situation rather than a Ben Wallace situation?
I think there is no reason not to keep him. Last year he showed flashes of dominance and showed why he was the number 1 pick. His problem is consistency and that comes along with experience and maturity. Remember it took JO 4 years to develop and it very well could take Kwame that long as well.
Just look at his number and that is a very good indicator that he is improving ever year. The first year in the league he avged 4.5pts and 3.5 rebs. His second season his stats were up to 7.4 pts and 5.3 rebs and finally last year he averaged almost 11 points and 7.5 rebs. That is very solid improvement but the biggest indicator of improvement for me is that each year he has logged more minutes than the previous year yet still managed to raise his fg% to where it is almost 50 percent.
To let Kwame go would be a huge mistake. He has slowly but steadily improved as a player and he has show the flashes of dominance scouts expected when they dubbed him a top 5 pick.
