You can make the argument that kidd is the best point guard in the league, but he certainly isn't the most valuable. When you take into consideration his age, injury problems and that mammoth contract, his value seriously diminishes. On the surface, SAR + Damon for Kidd is a no-brainer. But IMO if he was a free agent right now I wouldn't sign him to a $90 million, 5 year deal, let alone take on that contract and give up SAR and Damon in the process.
I just think we should stay the course and plan to clear cap room for next summer. I would rather spend a big chunk of change on someone young next year like AK47, Gasol, or even Ray Allen.
Do we really want to be paying a 36 year old Kidd over 21 million in the 08-09 season?
