MemphisX once again, dropping some knowledge. I also like the deal very much for Atlanta. The fact that Al Harrington can defend 3's or 4's, makes Antoine Walker much more dangerous. Plus the fact that their games complement one another so well. Walker likes the perimeter, Harrington loves the low block and can be devastating.
If Dampier signs the 3-yr deal or not, they are sitting pretty. They should probably tender Sura a deal for a year, but other than that, they are looking real nice.
To summarize the Hawks swing players:
Josh Childress and Donta Smith will most likely be big SG's
Boris Diaw-Riffard will be a Jack-of-all-trades do it all point forward coming off the bench.
Josh Smith is their future superstar SF.
A young guy who wants to be the man and has the passion for it in Al Harrington as a PF, but versatile enough to play the SF for your team.
Future team:
PG -
SG - Donta Smith (he will start over Childress in a year or two)
SF - Josh Smith
PF - Al Harrington
C -
Then enough cap room to build around a nice core of talent. Billy Knight is doing it the right way. Throwing near max-money at a 22 y/o Tony Parker next year and some big money at either Big Z, Dalembert or Chandler, could net them a tremendous windfall. I wish the stupid Warriors, were this proactive.
