Will the NBA ever change its ways re: officiating?
Everybody here knows that a travel has not been called regularly in the NBA since Bush sr. was in the oval office. The NBA loves its entertainment value, it loves the hand checking, it loves the travelling, especially if the final result is someone getting posterised.
This is all well and good.
But...
As a result of the Italy loss EDIT: Should say "If team USA performs poorly, and fails to win a medal", will the NBA decide to change its rules at all to accomodate the International game?
will the NBA look at
1) getting rid of defensive 3 seconds
2) actually calling travels ( I didn't see the game, but according to what I've read on espn.com team USA was called for plenty of them).
things of that nature.
So,
is it a case of
1) the american public cares more about the NBA than they do about team USA winning gold, thus the NBA will never change.
2) there is nothing to worry about, the only reason team USA lost is because this team is packed with second stringers.
3) the NBA will wise up and change rules, regardless of wether its for International competitive reasons, or because the NBA itself would benefit from more fundamental basketball.
