You obviously don't know Celtics fans. At one time the Celtics were the MFYs of the NBA, and a good portion of Celtics fandom was every bit as charming as MFY fans. They've been frustrated by 12 years of losing. So frustrated that they hated their two winning teams for not winning "The Celtics Way". Yeah, it's been that long since they've gone to a real live game.
Kedrick Brown is on his way to Europe after this season. Atkins couldn't play defense (which was why I was opposed to the deal), but is an OK offensive point guard. Gary Payton wasn't the reason the Lakers lost the title, but he wasn't good, either. He's still better than Chucky Atkins. Marcus could well turn into Gary Payton Lite, but it took Chauncey five years to really find his feet as an NBA point guard, so Banks may want to hold off on those All Star game reservations for a little while. Next year's draft pool will be loaded with point guards, given a pair of picks Boston should be able to land Gilchrist or Felton to be a replacement for Banks. In a worst case scenario, they can use all that cap space that they'll get from the Raefer Reefer deal to sign someone like Tony Parker.
