The Mavs payroll will still be 2nd highest in the league next season, and they are going to be there for a while too. The contracts of Bradley, Booth, Stackhouse, Najera and Abdul-Wahad run for the next 3-4 seasons at a combined 30 million per season. Not to mention the max contracts of Dirk and Finley that run for the next 4 years, plus the contracts of all the young players. The Mavs are going to be in luxury tax for the next 3 season, even if they let the expiring contracts go. How exactly is Cuban cutting payroll ?

You're very quick to turn on Nash, I bet you would have a different opinion if the Mavs did resign him.
maybe on the nash situation. B ut the mavs made him into what he is today. Molded his career. Gave him a huge paycheck when he hadn't earned it nor a starting job in this league and repaid em by walking out on em. I don't respect that so I have no respect for him either.

jhow is he cutting payroll?

http://www.hoopshype.com/salaries/dallas.htm

the mavs will slice almost 10 mil off the books by getting rid of these guys next year.

Yea it would have been nice to have nash on the team but if the mavs signed nash and let walker walk next year then they'd only slice 1.5 mil off the books. Terry is making half of what nash is making

as you can see over the next few years the mavs payroll will drop greatly

Cuban got rid of raef's bad contract
jamisons bad contract

and didn't resign nash

he's been trying to move wahad in a package deal but no one will do it or that contract would be gone too.

that's also the main reason the mavs didn't trade for jason kidd
