It's hilarious that some Blazers fans think including Sebastian Telfair or Sergei Monya would be a deal-breaker here.
On the one hand, we have Jason Kidd. A lock for the Hall of Fame. One of the best point guards of the past fifteen years. And for the people who say he's past his prime, a guy who's still in his early thirties and was just named to the All-NBA First Team (again).
On the other hand, we have Sebastian Telfair and Sergei Monya, two completely unproven rookies who weren't highly regarded enough to even be drafted in the top ten. Compared to Kidd, these guys don't mean squat.
If Portland thinks Kidd is too expensive and won't recover from his injury, that's a valid reason to turn the trade down. In that case, they shouldn't trade for Kidd no matter whether Telfair and Monya are included or not. But not wanting to give up Telfair or Monya, that's not a valid reason to pass up on Jason freaking Kidd.
