OT: Keys to team success
I was recently thinking about what kind of players create a good team. Because it is clearly not just talent, ie the chicago bulls. And i thought about what would the perfect team consist of. Here's my list position by position.
PG: A pass first point guard with the ability to drive and a good range. Very quick with the ability to go on a fast break well.
SG: A 3 point specialist pure shooter who has a good FG% and can knock down an open 3 at any time. A smaller player around 6'3" with the ability to jump high.
SF: A relatively tall defensive minded small forward who can block shots and get some steals. A guy who can nab long rebounds, a smart player, a veteran.
PF: A nasty Defensive rebounder who takes mostly dunks and is able to step out and make a mid range jumper consistantly.
C: A tall, Offensive minded center who can give you 25+ a game with an incredible ability to block shots and shut down drivers.
2 Bench players i like to call spark plugs.
1: A combo guard who is a shoot first guy who takes chances and gets some steals. Exceptionally fast and has the ability hits 3's while guarded.
2: A tall PF/C with a knack for offensive boards. Putting up easy shots and making a good pass on occasion.
Team that could fit this mold:
PG: Jamaal Tinsley
SG: Brent Barry
SF: Shawn Marion
PF: Kurt Thomas
C: Tim Duncan
Combo guard: Jamal Crawford
PF/C: Mike Sweetney
Any thoughts? I think this is a good formula for success personally, but you can make your comments.
