Aaron McKie looks to return to practice on Saturday..
Quote:
PHILADELPHIA - On Monday, doctors reading the MRI on Aaron McKie's injured left shoulder recommended that he rest for two to three weeks.
McKie doesn't want to wait that long.
On Thursday, McKie said he's planning to practice Saturday.
"I'm no expert on shoulders or anything like that," said McKie prior to the Sixers' game against the Spurs. "Sometimes you've just got to go on how you feel. I could be wrong. I'm just willing to see where I'm at."
McKie shot around and ran during the Sixers' workout Wednesday and again at Thursday's shoot-around. With no practice today, he's looking forward to mixing it up Saturday.
"Hopefully, I can get in there, practice a little bit and see what happens," McKie said.
McKie said the shoulder, which contains a partial tear in the labrum, is sore when he wakes up in the morning, but it's not unbearable. McKie suffered a partial tear in his left labrum when he stripped the ball from Richard Jefferson in the third quarter of a Nov. 10 win over the Nets. He was placed on the injured list Nov. 12 and is eligible to be activated after Sunday's game in Miami.
"We'll see how he feels," coach Jim O'Brien said. "He knows his body better than anybody. It's his call, as to what he wants to do with that."
McKie is averaging 1 point and shooting 25 percent in five games this season. He has attempted eight shots in 81 minutes.

The question I have is, what the hell is the rush? He wasn't effective when he was healthy, what's he going to provide the team with a torn labrum in his shoulder? And what's bothering is, I know when he comes back he's going to bite in the time of other players no matter how ineffective he is. I want them to keep him on IR for at least three more weeks.
