Question Why do players go to Duke?

I can't figure this out. Sure Duke is almost always ranked in the top 5 in the country if no #1 every year. But why do such great players go there? They come every year, and they obviously don't care about playing time because next year that team will be freaking stacked. Take Humphries for example, I have said this before, he will not see much time because hell Deng, Williams, Randolph, Thompson etc. all play his position! Where is the intellegence in going to a school where your "spot" it taken already? Coach. K is obviously one hell of a physiologist to make these boys think they are better off going to Duke that say Arizona, UNC, MSU, OU, Maryland, Florida etc. On those teams they would play and probably start. And even more of a issue is the fact that they are almost always top 25-50 ranked players. And most of the have a shot at making it to the NBA. And why don't players look at that end of the spectrum? Because I think that should be just as important as what college to go to, because them are in a position to make a ton of money in the future, and they have to improve as a basketball player. And coach. K's record with pro ballers that when through his system well. Not that good in my book. Just look at Battier, Laettner, Avery, Langdon, Carawell, Maggette. Heck even Jay Williams is not doing great in the pros to start off. Sure Brand, Hill and Boozer look solid but there are more players that are not good in the pros from Duke than there are good players in the league.

So why do these kids go there? Obviously coach. K has some little trick he uses, he makes them feel at home with all of his physicology and they buy into it. Part of it also is the atmosphere that Duke has and it is a great place to play with a lot of history.

They have a ton of pro prospects on the team much like they did when they went all year with two losses. Duhon, Dockery, Williams, Sanders, Redick, Randolph, Ewing and Jones. But why do they all come to Duke? I just don't see the thinking in coming to a stacked basketball team. Sure winning is very important but will they sacrifice possibly millions of dollars to win? And in millions I'm talking about players that can play but don't get the chance to show their stuff and their draft stock falls.

You don't see this kind of talent at any other school. And sorry but this is not football like Miami. Most of there players all play there are 22 spots in football to play. Basketball only has 5.
