And if we hadn't been able to trade up from 22, and he didn't drop to us, we would be able to take one of the several excellent PG prospects from this year's draft class.

At the time of the 2004 draft, Miami's needs were center and point guard. From the quote, Pfund is clearly enamoured with Telfair. I don't see how anyone could say that they would NOT have picked Telfair over Dorell Wright, who has been useless for them this year. (and at the time of the draft was stuck behind Caron Butler, Eddie Jones and Dwayne Wade)

As it turns out, Telfair could actually be getting really solid minutes with Miami this year behind Damon Jones. I think he's be getting what Dooling is currently getting: 14 minutes per game.

Since PG's take longer to develop than other guys, I'm glad we got Telfair when we did. It seems likely he'll be ready for minutes by next year, while a 2005 draft pick would be less likely to be ready. That would mean keeping Damon or Nick and/or getting another PG to step in for a year.

If you're Miami, who would you have selected...Dorell Wright or Sebastian Telfair?
