I think this one was a no brainer. You have a young athletic 6'9" guy who is a solid rebounder and can finish really well around the basket. He is a high energy guy and at 23 years old is a great addition to this team. I think that signals the end of Alan Henderson in a Mavs uniform. The team wanted to get more athletic and Powell is that type of player.

I mentioned early that Powell and maybe one other summer leaguer might make the team. I found it interesting that both Powell and Michael Harris did not play in the final Rocky Mountain Review summer league game. DNP coaches decision. I wonder if that was because the Mavs had already made thier decision about both guys. I would not be surprised to see another anouncement about signing Harris as well.
