Doug Overton named director of player developmnet..

Quote:
Doug Overton, the former 76ers point guard and La Salle star, has been hired as the Sixers' director of player development.

Team president Billy King made the announcement in a news release today.

According to the prepared statement, Overton, a native of Philadelphia, will focus on off-court player development, helping players realize their potential and achieve post-NBA goals and aspirations. He will also assist head coach Maurice Cheeks and his staff as well as the Sixers' scouting staff.

Overton, who starred at Dobbins Tech before playing at La Salle from 1987 to '91, had two stints with the Sixers as a player in the mid- to late 1990s. He retired from the NBA after 11 seasons, his last with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2003-04.
