Injury Report: Lindsey Hunter
Veteran guard Lindsey Hunter did not participate in the Pistons first practice on Tuesday due to a sore left ankle. He will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his ankle on Wednesday, October 5th. Pistons Strength and Conditioning Coach Arnie Kander explained that the surgery is a fairly minor procedure to merely clean out “debris” found inside the joint. Considering Hunter’s style of play and his tough defense, Kander says they will not rush his recovery time, but he is expected to return towards the end of the week. Dr. Arthur Manoli from St. Joseph Mercy Medical Center in Pontiac will perform the surgery.

Milicic
Progress of Darko
Flip Saunders feels that Milicic has noticeably improved his strength during the Pistons brief off-season. While it does not appear that he has gained much weight, Milicic has definitely gotten stronger. Saunders plans to give the young center a chance to prove himself and will not be forcing him to play in the low post. Milicic has excellent passing skills and moves off the dribble, which could shape him into quite a perimeter-oriented big man.

Day
Who’s that?
The Pistons brought in Todd Day, 35, to work out with the team during training camp. Day, who hasn’t played in the NBA since he rounded out his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2001, isn’t officially on the Pistons training camp roster. Day is a 6-6, 188-pound guard who has most recently played for the Arkansas Rimrockers of the ABA during the 2004-05 season.
