Re: Leading Scorer/ other things

I doubt Billups leads the Pistons in steals. The safe bet would be Ben leading in both blocks and steals.

PPG – Hamilton… at around 16 -19 per. (threat- Billups)
RPG – B. Wallace… at around 11.5 -13 per. (threat- none)
APG – Billups… at around 6 per. (threat- none)
SPG – B. Wallace… at around 1.5 - 2 per. (threat- Billups… though unlikely)
BPG – B. Wallace… at around 2.5 - 3 per. (threat- none)
MPG – Hamilton… at around 34-36 per. (threat- Prince… though unlikely)

FG% - McDyess
3fg%- Billups
FT% - Billups
Efficiency – B. Wallace
Plus/ Minus – Prince or R. Wallace

Tech. Fouls – R. Wallace
Flagrant fouls – D. Davis (in limited minutes)
DNP CD’s – D. Davis or Hunter

***Surprise contributor - Delfino

Wishful thinking

Hopefully Ben will challenge McDyess for leader in FG% this season. That would probably signify that Ben’s offensive freedom has been revoked.

I personally believe that he benefits the team more by concentrating all of his energy on defense and rebounding (the Rodman role). His offence should come off of hustle plays, lobs, drop passes, dish offs and put backs. Only when teams are ignoring him completely should the outside mid range shot be utilized (just to keep them somewhat honest).

At no point (and I repeat… no point) should the team be running set plays to post Ben unless he is being defended by a guard (at which point it would probably be more of an on the fly isolation play as opposed to a set play in the offensive game plan). The Hunter Ben Wallace side pick and roll should also be scrapped.

Running offence through Ben consistently is basically throwing away possessions (IMO).
If he can average 8-10 points per game on basically hustle and cleanup plays the Pistons would benefit greatly.
