Re: MVP - Kobe
In my opinion Kobe will win the MVP if no player from the top teams seperates himself in the voting. We have to remember much of the MVP vote has to do with media hype and a player clearly playing above his peers. In my opinion Kobe, LeBron, Billups, Nash, AI and Elton Brand are the only players in the league doing this on a consistent basis.
As of today here is where the stand.
1. Chauncy Billups
Most likely. but it depends on how people perceive his influence on the overall team success. I think he will win it if the team comes close to or beating the 95'-96' Bulls record. It also helps his team will most likely be in the finals.
2. LeBron James
Due to media hype and exposure, yes, but it depends on his teams success the rest of the season and down the stretch. This is the guy Stern and the media want to win it for obvious reasons.
3. Kobe Bryant
Possible due to the numbers he is putting up, if he can get the Lakers to 45-50 wins I say he will win it. The NBA needs Kobe and the Lakers to be good for overall success of the league, so if Kobe carries this team to 45-50 wins, the media would be all over it, giving Kobe the MVP. I will say though it is doubtful Kobe will lead this team to 45-50 wins while playing at this level without burning out.
4. Steve Nash
No due to politics! The NBA doesn't give 2 MVP trophies to guys like this. No offense to Nash.
5. Elton Brand
No, the NBA wouldn't give the MVP trophy to an LA Clipper. Sorry Elton.
6. Allen Iverson
Possibly but doubtful, AI is playing great, but he is getting overlooked by Kobe performances. Also, now that AI stays out of the limelight the media sort of has forgotten about him.
