Wrestling sucks. And has sucked since Vince McMahon turned the WWWF into the WWF in 1980. Seriously. All that has changed since 2002 is probably your own willingness to suspend belief and you've probably also, since that year, gained a need for half-decent storytelling.
Its called growing out of it... Pro Wrestling is just something you either fall away from or become utterly absorbed into as you grow.
