just to add whats already been said:
if you have a right-wing mentality, you are in favor of less government involvement in the economy (ie/ you are open to foreign investors, believe that the "market" should be as free as possible) and fewer taxes (and ultimately that means you have more money in your pocket, but it could also mean you'll receive fewer benefits from the government like health care, education, etc.)
left-wing ideologists: just the opposite of whats said above (ie/ more taxes, more social welfare services, heavily restricted markets in order to protect your domestic businesses)
