Don't use "All-Star" as criteria for greatness/HOF...
You see a lot of people post how many All-Star games somebody has under their belt and since it is fan voted it has less to do with the real impact a player has.

For example

Gary Payton has X amount of All-Star appearances therefore he should make the HOF...

Shawn Marion has X amount of All-Star appearances therefore he sucks...


A lot of times a player isn't selected because his position is stacked or maybe he was injured earlier in the year.

People on this board are giving too much weight to all-star appearances in order to determine a player's worth during their career. They also do this with all defensive teams as well. Those all-defense awards are whacked out too.
