He didnt have a choice, the city refused to help him back then also. The only reason he didnt pay cash for the Rose Garden when it was built was because the vast majority of his money was tied up in Microsoft stock, which at the time was making him one of the richest men in the world. He would have been crazy to sell that stock then to buy an arena.

The city is obligated to help because the Trail Blazer bring the city/state millions of $$$ each year, yet give nothing back. The city helps other large corps with tax cuts, why not offer the same to the Trail Blazers?

If the Trail Blazers leave, not only would our gov. lose the $millions$ from our players taxes etc, but they would also lose the tax dollars that opposing players pay when they play here. Not sure if all of you are aware of the fact that opposing teams players pay an income tax to each city/state they play in.

The bottom line is the Trail Blazers arent going anywhere... the city/state needs the Trail Blazers $$$ now more than ever, and they know it. They'll help, its just a matter of how.
