NBA coming to Dominican Republic for first time.
The Miami Heat will play the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 11 in a preseason game marking the NBA's first visit to the Dominican Republic.
It will be the 19th NBA game played in Latin America since 1992.
The game in Santo Domingo will mark a return to his homeland for Felipe Lopez of the Timberwolves.
The last time the NBA played in Latin America was 2000,when Philadelphia defeated Washington 84-80 in a preseason game at Mexico City,one of 15 games played there.Three preseason games were played in Puerto Rico.
