You stole what I was going to say right out of my mouth. With the right people around him, I believe someone who shares both titles can do a more efficient job because they know what their vision is and exactly what they need to fulfill it. You won't ever get another Isiah Thomas/Larry Brown or Grunfeld/Van Gundy situation in this case. Of course their is alot of work to do both jobs but that's what assistants are made for. Hire assistants specialized to take care of one aspect of work and I think it's possible to not have a work overload.
