The Lafrentz pick still burns me. I was hoping beyond hope they'd take Vince Carter and yet Issel drafts Raef because he reminded him of himself back in his playing days.
I remember thinking to myself, it's gotta be Carter, or if not him, maybe Jamison. Nope, Issel set the franchise back even further by drafting a softie whose range is overrated. Don't mistake shot blocking for defense, Lafrentz is not a good low post defender either. He'll block a few shots here and there, but he gets outworked for rebounds and is about as physical as a church league flag football game.
Terrible selection at #3, especially considering who else was available. The Tony Battie pick wasn't much better. Thank goodness those Issel days are behind us.
