Teams didn't follow him around, his defender did. That did allow him to get mismatches on switches, but I disagree that it was a significant effect in freeing up teammates much.

He couldn't create for others, I said. He was able to create fouls for himself, as he was adept at getting players up in the air and then stepping into them. That doesn't take ball-handling...he wasn't slashing into the paint for his free throws, he was baiting players into getting off-balance on the perimeter so he could hurl himself into them for the foul.

He was a fairly unique offensive player, but all excellent and above scorers have tremendous positive impact. He was still one-dimensional and his scoring game, while very efficient, was still not one of the very best ever.
