It makes more sense then you think. Kidd is a PG in the last stage of his career with quite a bit of money still left on his deal. His trade value is not as high as a lot of people think. Since the current Nets formula of Kidd/Jefferson/Carter with a super weak interior is not getting it done, and Vince is likely gone this summer, why not trade them both if they are going to miss the playoffs anyway?

Cash out the 2 pieces for bigs, additional draft picks, and young talent, end up finishing 12th or 13th in the East instead of 9th or 10th and getting a stronger lottery pick in June.

Team would then have no identity but lots of options and cap space in the future. Could make a run at Gasol this summer as well.
