Most explosive 6th man in history
Not necessarily the best . . . for my book that would be someone like Michael Cooper who could come in as a defensive stopper . . . nor do I want anyone that had a great career as a starter too like Havlicek, McHale, Bobby Jones, etc. . . . want guys who spent pretty much their whole career (at least 80%) as a reserve and who were pure instant offense off the bench.
I'll lead off with the three I remember best:
Ricky Pierce - - instant offense but spent 8 years backing up Sidney Moncrief . . . hit for as high as 23 ppg, could shoot or slas, twice SMOY and made an all-star game in one of his other years despite starting only 2 games that year.
Dell Curry - - pure shooter with pretty much unlimited range primarily for the Hornets as I remember. Didn't play any defense or have any handles but in terms of catch the ball and put it in the basket, up there with Reggie Miller, Ray Allen and the other greats.
Vinnie Johnson -- probably not the scorer that Pierce and Curry were but had the coolest bench guy nickname (The Microwave - - he heats up in a hurry) and was Mr. Instant Offense for championship teams.
Whose your pick?
