Brewer was assigned to deny the ball to the other team's best shooter night and night out. If Hollinger really wants to see how good/bad defense is, he needs to compare Player A's night when he was covered by Brewer to Player A's nights when he was covered by someone else. Brewer, from what I've seen, is not a chancey defender: that is, he doesn't overplay to get steals or blocks (and Hollinger should differentiate between weak side blocks and on the ball blocks

). He just shuts down the other guy. Of course, I haven't seen every game Brewer's ever played so I could be wrong. But I still think he's a good defender and a better offensive player than people think. The Celts should take him in a cocaine heartbeat.
