I agree with yer initial post in this thread. It basically sums up how I feel about Marcus as a whole.

The resounding theme of the Nets is that the youth needs confidence. Zoran, Anotine, Hassan, Josh, and Marcus have all mentioned it at one point or another. But there comes a point where it's confidence and it's not getting the job done.

I have as high a hopes for Marcus as just about anybody but everything I saw of him in summer league scares the crap outa me because the one big flaw in his game, and the reason he was sat so often last season, doesn't look any different. I mean I can count the times he even attempted to put his hand up on D on one hand and that simply won't get it done. The easiest thing Marcus can do on the court is create for himself but is doing it at the rate he's doing isn't going to help this team. A team which is comprised of roughly 8+ players who need to be setup to be effective for us. I mean it's no coincidence that we won today's game despite his poor shooting because he got the others involved and it probably could have been a blowout if we could have reigned in their guards even a little bit.

I think it will take a Knight acquisition at this point to not only test his mettle but to allow Marcus to figure out if he wants to be a 2 guard who can pass or a point guard with range. We played House and Williams together last season there's no reason we couldn't give a Knight/Williams combo a try.
