There's the motivation factor but there's also letting him figure out where he's going to succeed and whether its what the Nets will ultimately want out of him or not. I mean it's gotta be confusing for a young player to be brought in and lauded for his ability to distribute but but then gets the most praise for his shooting and put in lineups where he's expected to do that alongside the guy he's supposed to be giving a breather.
It's hard enough to be thrown right into and asked to lead an offense that has seen more player casualties than successes but then be asked to find a groove for yourself and yer teammates with no real margin for error in limited play action. That's alot for anybody and an acquisition like Knight could allow him to find that balance and have a capable vet on the floor with him.
I mean we can talk about confidence until the cows come home but if Marcus can't figure out the most obvious thing he has to do, that he has to attempt to guard people to play for us, then he's not gonna be much use for us and the way we play. That's the hard work we need to see, Hassan's priority was the jumpshot, not Marcus.
