Desmond Mason

Once again, this board seem dead, so:

Good insurance if Simmons is injured, excellent player off the bench if he isn't.
Good defender, and everyone must have fond memories of his highlight dunks.

LAS VEGAS -- Demond Mason is on the verge of becoming a Milwaukee Buck once again.

Mason, who played two-plus seasons for the Bucks before being traded to New Orleans two seasons ago, is close to signing a multi-year contract with the Bucks. The amount of the contract is unknown.

Word of Mason signing with the Bucks spread among NBA officials attending an NBA summer league here Saturday, and Bucks general manager Larry Harris acknowledged his talks with Roger Montgomery, Mason's agent, were positive.

"It sounds like a broken record, but I'm optimistic,'' Harris said in a telephone interview Sunday night. "We had some great discussions today.''

Montgomery echoed those sentiments.

"We're optimistic about getting a deal done,'' Montgomery said in a telephone interview from his home in San Antonio, Texas.
I'd consider sign/trading Patterson as well - he had a good year, and though he probably wouldn't get more than a part of MLE (or the LLE, or veteran minimum), so teams could sign him outright, it's worth seeing if you can something (anything) back for him. Such as a backup point guard, or a pick, or even cash.

What's the roster like currently?

How well is the Knicks Starters vs NBA Team Starters? 60%? 50%? 40%? or are we waiting to see by being optimistic because we have a new additional player in the Starting lineup that we assume Stat sheet record says he is better with this Knick roster than the guy he is replacing?
