Facing Gun Charge, Baxter Pleads Guilty

Quote:
Lonny Baxter, the former Maryland basketball star who was briefly imprisoned last year for firing a weapon near the White House, pleaded guilty yesterday in Greenbelt to a federal firearms offense in a deal that could send him back to jail.
Baxter, 28, of Rockville, admitted that he illegally shipped weapons, including two Glock handguns and a Bushmaster rifle, from Houston to College Park without declaring the packages' contents, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein's office.
According to the statement, Baxter went to a Houston gun store twice in 2006, accompanied by a friend each time. He had his friends, who are identified in the statement only by their initials, purchase guns for him using their names. Baxter paid for the guns. On July 4, 2006, at Baxter's request, one of the friends consigned two packages containing the firearms to FedEx for shipment to a friend in Maryland.

Although the offense is punishable by up to five years in prison, Baxter's attorney, Richard A. Finci, said he is hopeful Baxter will receive no more than seven months.
Sentencing is set for Aug. 31.

I just spotted this item on google news.I guess from this article that Baxter played last year in Italy and now he's going to be playing his ball in a federal prison.I thought he was just a *******,but judging by this article he was a ******* gun nut who doesn't understand how federal gun laws.
