I think this is yet another cost-cutting move by the Suns. Let's face it, their owner (and possibly GM) sucks. They've given away several first rounders for cash, when they could have at least traded them for much-needed backups in the post.

The Suns get that trade exception though, so ye gotta think they might be making a big move soon..
(I doubt it, but it would be nice to hear about something interesting)

Thomas expires at the end of the year, so he really doesn't matter. They took him to get the picks.

So basically they turned a free agent that they really shouldn't have gotten anything for into two first round picks. They will also have a lot of money to sign some quality free agents next season not to mention a really high draft pick.
