Re: Derek Anderson re-signed

Orlando Magic:

Nelson/Arroyo
Bogans/Dooling/Redick
Turkoglu/Ariza
Lewis/Garrity
Howard/Foyle

Nelson/Arroyo < Felton/Touche'/DA

The Magic were trying to GIVE Arroyo away last season. Anderson, which ironically started this, was one of our most efficient Bobcats last season.

Diamonds in the Rough

Quote:
Derek Anderson was highly successful for Charlotte last season. Queen City Hoops recently reviewed last season's most successful Bobcats lineups. The Bobcats three best lineups all featured Derek Anderson. Clearly, Anderson played a large role in the Bobcats late-season success - why not bring him back and build on it? Anderson is affordable, and it's clear that despite his age (33) he can still play.
BTW, QCH agrees with your dislike of Touche', nor am I that high on him. I will however give our coach the benefit of the doubt as he's been in the gym with him all summer. He's a vet min player who can EASILY be replaced if push comes to shove.

Bogans/Dooling/Redick < Jason Richardson/Hammer/Derek Anderson

Turk/Ariza < Crash/Ammo/Dudley/Fabio

I shouldn't have to argue either of these. Crash by himself trumps all those guys. Ariza can be a "poor man's Gerald Wallace", but he's still fairly raw. Dudley could probably dominate him with his inside game.

Lewis/Garrity > Fabio/Dudley/Mek/Davidson

This is obviously the dropoff, but ONLY because of the starter (remember we're doing "worst bench in the NBA" here). I'd take Fabio/Dudley over Garrity ANY day.

Howard/Foyle = Mek/Primoz/Davidson/Hollins

Foyle has stone hands, but is a pretty good defender. Primoz has a great perimeter game but sucks at defense. Primoz has the edge in rebounds.

I intentionally left May out...so ANYTHING he gives in this scenario is a plus.

Looks to me like Orlando has a worse bench...yet most writers are picking them to be in the playoffs.

I'd also point to Hoopshype today...Iavoroni says he plans on running an 8 or 9 man rotation this year.

If needs be we can do another team later...but as "worst" was the metric it really shouldn't be needed.
