New Orleans Hornets (6-2) vs. Philadelphia 76ers (2-5)
VS.
New Orleans Arena, New Orleans, LA
7:00pm CST
Preview
While the New Orleans Hornets seem ready to take a step forward after a disappointing end to last season, the Philadelphia 76ers may be in danger of regressing.
The Hornets look to match the best start in franchise history when they conclude their season series with the struggling 76ers on Wednesday night.
New Orleans and Philadelphia were two of 13 teams in the NBA that finished with less than 40 wins in 2006-07. The Hornets (6-2) have bounced back by opening this season strong while the 76ers (2-5) have lost three straight.
New Orleans has won two in a row -- including a 93-72 victory over Philadelphia on Sunday night -- and has a chance to win seven of its first nine for the second time in franchise history. The Hornets started 7-2 in 2002-03, when they finished 47-35 and lost to the 76ers in the first round of the playoffs.
New Orleans has been winning with strong defense, holding opponents to 89.9 points per game. On Monday night, the Hornets held an opponent under 90 points for the third time this season, beating New Jersey 84-82.
