Re: Why wont the Lakers just trade Kobe?
The Lakers are where the Kings are (except the Kings are worse) They have a mix of veterans and young guys, and are sitting in a pool of mediocrity. There is nothing worse than being mediocre, with no end in sight. At some point you have to make a decision. Do you want to trade your young guns, and go for a veteran to take a shot at the title? Do you want to trade your players for some draft picks, and some young talent? Either way, the Lakers (like the Kings) have been unbelievably complacent. It's even dumber for the Lakers considering they have Kobe. They can't seem to decide on a direction.
Not only does mediocrity hamper you because of salary cap reasons (you're still trying to win, but trying to rebuild) by signing these so called "veterans" (Guys like Fisher for the Lakers, and Moore for the Kings) These types of players take time away from your young players, while keeping you at a mediocre hovering .500 team. Which means you won't even get a high draft pick.
