Bynum isnt even the best center in LA, I dont get where this whole untradeable thing comes from.
Because he's pretty much a double double threat playing bench minutes. He has made ton of improvement, even his body looks different. He's the special project of one of the greatest players of all time, Kareem. His vast improvment overtake his tradeability. If this deal with Bynum was not made by the Lakers FO last season why would they make it this season after we have seen what Bynum has to offer along with more improvement to come. So if it means that no deal is going to be made without Bynum I'm sure the Lakers would rather make it a no deal. The Lakers are looking for expiring contracts, round picks and young talent (excluding Bynum) type of deal for a team that is wanting to go into rebuilding mode that has players that can contribute to the Lakers right now and so far if it means wasting Kobe's prime then that's the way the Lakers FO has set it to be.
