Center Melvin Ely, who has missed 10 games with a fractured left eye socket, was cleared Friday to begin full contact work. Ely is required to wear a protective mask. Ely said he still gets headaches resulting from the blow he took from Denver forward Kenyon Martin's elbow.
"I'm going to need the next three days to get back in shape," Ely said. "I'm happy to be out there, because it's time to bring the bench back up."
Scott said they plan to put Ely through practices this week before determining whether he will play Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Lakers at the New Orleans Arena
