What can we possibly gain by playing Raymond at SG?

I've been thinking about this for awhile and I can't make any sense whatsoever of it.I know that Sam Vincent is in a tough spot with regards to the talent level that he has here...I know that Raymond has basically sucked in a large proportions of the games he's played this year. However I just can't see any real benefit from playing him out of position so much.

Last year we did it out of necessity and it really worked out decently because BK is a superb playmaker and Raymond was making shots. At the same time Raymond couldn't guard wings last year,he can't guard them now and he's never going to magically become someone who can guard guys six inches taller than him.Raymond is never going to be a good SG.McInnis is never going to be anything that he isn't right now. He's a guy who can't shoot, can't create and can't defend.I'd rather go find some guy in the d league who might not suck at some point rather than stick with someone who is obviously one of the worst players in the NBA.

On the other hand if you play Raymond at his natural position and run a system that focuses on his strengths(transition game obviously) then at some point he might turn things around. If Raymond doesn't develop into a good point guard this franchise is totally screwed for the foreseeable future. There's no reason not to face this fact and perhaps coach Raymond through his difficulties. If Vincent can't see this then to hell with him.If he can't act in the long term interest of this team we have no use for him. This season is not yet a lost cause, but we can't sacrifice our longterm future so that Vincent can go on with these weird lineups trying to save his own ***.So far as I am concerned the primary job is to continue developing our young players. If Vincent is going to permanently wreck the development of one of our major assets then to hell with him.
