Interesting Cassell and Mobley comments

"We are 10-21," Cassell said. "That doesn't make it fun to enjoy. I'm still optimistic about how we can turn things around and see what we can do."

Asked whether he would like to play for a team with championship aspirations to finish this season and his career, Cassell said he wasn't at the point of requesting a trade.

"We'll see," he said. "It ain't to that point right now, but we'll see. I started this thing and we'll see how it pans out.

"Everyone on this team is searching, from the coaching staff to the players. Everybody is trying to do what they can do to turn this thing around for the better of the team.

"I just got to get back to enjoying it and having fun with it. Me personally, I can't play basketball with a frown on my face. I've got to be jittery and chattery. That makes me play better."

Perhaps that's why Mobley's words had a lot of weight. It might be easy to let out frustration after a poorly played loss - and the Clippers have had numerous games like that while losing eight of nine. It is different to calmly try to explain what is wrong with a team after a seemingly positive effort.

"When you sign people, you sign them for a reason," Mobley said. "Everybody knows what a lot of us have done. I've been in the league for nine years. People know what I do. People know what Sam (Cassell) does. People know what Corey does. You fit it around them, and that's how you make the team comfortable."

Sunday, the Clippers focused their offense around Kaman and Thornton. Those two players might be important pieces for the Clippers in the future, but the transition to having them be key components apparently has been rocky - at least to Mobley.

It practically sounds like Mobley wants the Clippers to make a trade. But he never said that.

"We don't have young guys, so what do you do?" he said. "The Spurs have chemistry. If they're not going to Parker, they're going to Ginobili, if not Ginobili, then Duncan. And the other guys fit in. That's with Phoenix and all good teams. We're everywhere."
