Smith says he doesn't expect to make a trade

Magic fans expecting the club to make a deal before the trade deadline next month likely will be disappointed.
General Manager Otis Smith said Tuesday before the Magic's victory over Chicago that he doesn't expect the team to make a move.
While the Magic lack a true power forward they can start, Smith has no interest in either Chris Webber or P.J. Brown, veterans who are free agents.
"I don't see us doing anything. We're always trying to make our team better, but I think what we need, as a team, is more consistent play from the guys we have," Smith said.
To that end, Coach Stan Van Gundy said that his three main players -- C Dwight Howard, PF Rashard Lewis and SF Hedo Turkoglu -- need to pick up their games, especially on the defensive end.
"A lot of it starts with them," Van Gundy said.
Team is half way home
The Magic are halfway through the season after facing the Charlotte Bobcats tonight in Game No. 41.
They have played 24 games on the road -- the most in the league.
"It's just the way it has been," Van Gundy said. "It's been tough, the traveling, no question. You look at it and it's easy to forget that we also went to China [in the preseason]. It's crazy."
While the first half of the schedule has been road-heavy, the Magic could benefit the second half when, for example, they play 10 of their 14 games in March at Amway Arena.
