Because freshmen usually struggle defensively??? The upperclassmen.... Harris is a good defender who is restricted by the zone (they must play), and Onuaku is not dominant inside defensively. Onangenet is not a Big East player, but works hard, and is a glue guy, but lacks alot in the area of talent. But he must play. You cannot expect this team to be good defensively.

Those two have some of the best production in the college game.

Take five non-descript freshmen, throw them in the Big East, play an up-tempo style, amd make them have to play 40 minutes a game. Someone will have to score alot, someone will get alot of assists, someone will get alot of rebounds. The team might suck but there will always be counting stats to make some players look better then they are.
Flynn and Greene are great prospects and have been good. But don't let the numbers fool you.... they have to take the shots on this team, and the numbers are inflated by them playing 40 minutes a game and an up-tempo style that inflates your basic counting states (points, assists, rebounds).
take there numbers with a grain of salt

Who cares if they have a bench or not? That excuse can be made for most teams. [/quote]
Were they considered a top 25 team at the beginning of the season? Nope. And then they had all kinds of injuries.... they are around #40-45 in the country... I can't see how those are unrealistic expectations/ Once again don't gross up your team expectations because of the numbers that Greene and Flynn are getting.... someone has to score on this team.
There starting point guard from last year, Josh Wright, while average at best, is much better then the walk-ons they have to play now (or not play) He ;eft school because he is a headcase. Jardine is not a good college player as a freshmen, and he was suspended.
Devendorf is a good college player, and he is out for the year.
Andy Rautins would have been nice glue as a junior. But he is out for the year.
When you have to start a JUCO who was not even expected to be in the eotation and play him 38 minutes a game, and your third best guard is a walk-on junior, who had not played in three years. then yes the depth issue is much worse then most teams, and it certainly is not a "WHO CARES" only point.
You can blame Boeheim for the lack of depth... but that does nothing to prove that the current batch is underacheiving.

They are underachieving plain and simple

Uh oh, what a clincher. I guess you proved your point.
