i obviously don't care much about all-star nods. you could make a case for or against calderon and that's perfectly fine. i don't really have an opinion myself. but it's awfully convenient, to me, that the people most intent on having it appear like calderon is a shoo-in for this event are doug smith, chuck swirsky and raps tv. i often catch myself wondering if these guys report out of sheer bias (a want to believe) or objective truth (a real belief)- this would be exhibit A.

i don't know if i've even heard calderon going to new orleans mentioned by anyone outside of these few parties. and they (esp. smith and swirsky) were "so sure" of it (book it). kind of funny. but makes you wonder what else you're being fed that isn't terribly accurate. and why. very weird.

that's a valid point about Toronto bias (ie. Swirsky voting for Bargnani as ROY), but I have read quite a lot about Jose's potential inclusion as an all-star. Espn's Hollinger wrote at length about why Calderon deserved it, as did a few other Espn writers. Maybe Marc Stein? And he got honourable mention on yahoo's all-snub team, with the 2 guards picked ahead of him being in the West

I also heard Rick Kamla going on about his 50,40,90 percentages...which truth be told are 53, 46 and 92.

If there was an injury to an eastern guard, I would be shocked if he wasn't chosen as the replacement...and I personally find it a bit shocking that joe johnson and his 41% shooting for a bad team beat jose out.
