Re: In or Out: SYRACUSE (2-6-08)
umass wouldn't lose to south florida. see it goes both ways. umass hasn't lost to any teams as bad as that.
south florida wouldn't crack the top 10 in this year's a10. syracuse lost their chance to prove they were better than umass when they lost at home to umass.
umass hasn't had the luxury of playing patsies like south florida, (x2) rutgers, st. john's and depaul up to this point in conference. in fact the 12 conference games that syracuse has played have had an average rpi rank of 94, umass conference opponents' rank to this point is 53 through nine conf games.
now to be completely fair, that will probably change, if you add in umass' remaining opponents in the a10, the average rpi will be 100, that's to cuse's 71 average. it's likely that umass will finish 6-1 from here on out, while i struggle to see 2 remaining wins for the cuse.
but i'm getting ahead of myself, it's not likely that cuse will be matched up with umass for the last slot. it'll be hard for syracuse to get in the conversation now after last night.
