Joe Smith for Gooden was pretty much the only real upgrade in the trade. But the presence of Wallace means that they'll not get the full use of Smith. The good news for Cavs fans is that Danny Ferry's job is now on an official deathwatch. He's going to have to pull a miracle out of his *** a la Danny Ainge by the trade deadline next year, because Gilbert isn't going to let him splurge in the free agent market again after his last set of signings. If Ferry can't swing a deal for a major talent by next February he'll be back in San Antonio by next June. And, unlike Ainge, he has nothing to trade (except LeBron, who's untouchable) but expiring deals. Ainge at the least had a high draft pick and Al Jefferson to use.
