Re: Draft day trade idea...

I'm not especially overwhelmed by the reports of either. Rush's alleged weaknesses (lots of jumpshots, is said to have troubles creating his own shot) are problems that are already present on the bench. I have seen Rush a bit, and his ballhandling is kind of weak, and it could lead to turnovers and a difficulty to create at this level. I might have caught him on bad nights, but it still seems like a weakness. Also, from a quick look at his stats, it doesn't look like he's improved much, if at all, from his freshmen or sophomore years, and that doesn't bode well.

I know Dumars was looking at Hardin, and his athleticism is intriguing, but he still seems ridiculously unskilled for a senior prospect. None of the young bigs on the team have much of an offense to speak of, but Maxiell has at least put in the work and become a solid shooter.

nbadraft has the Pistons taking him at 29. It doesn't look like the team would have to trade up to pick up either, and I don't foresee Rush as being much of an upgrade, so I'm not sure this is that helpful. It may be worthwhile to trade up if the team knows it can get real value, but it doesn't seem like either of these guys is worth giving up anything for.
