Re: Post Trade Analyis So Far

Good post, here's my take:

West:

Pretty solid player all around. He's way under-utilized IMO. He has the vision to be an excellent "true" PG in a traditional system. Plus, his lateral speed and agility make him a pretty good defender.

So far, he's not setting up guys as much as I'd like to see which is a shame, because he's a very good passer. Hopefully, as we get closer to the playoffs we'll see handling the rock more.

Smith:

I like him a lot. He's a very solid at everything. Pretty good instincts defensively, solid rebounder, EXCELLENT jumpshot.

He's adapted to the team faster than the other guys, by far. His consistency make him very valuable off the bench, where he should stay, but still get 20-25 minutes/game at the least.

Wallace:

He's done a decent job so far. I would say he hasn't blown me away, nor has he dissapointed me. He's kind of where I thought he'd be at this point. He's still learning the schemes and will only get better.

Although he's not as active as he was in Detroit, his defensive presence is still pretty valuable. However, he is a true liablity on offense and should NOT be paired up with AV. He should start alongside Z and get around 25 minutes a game.

Wally:

His shooting has been a little dissapointing so far. He just seems nervous/over-excited out there. Even though he's been missing some open shots, I think he's too good of a shooter to dismiss already. I mean, he's got possibly the purest shot on the team. He will settle down and eventually get back to making his open looks.

On the other hand, I've been pleased with his effort. He seems to be trying hard defensively. He's very slow lateraly, and isn't very athletic, but in general he's managed to stay in front of his man, which has to please M. Brown.

Also, he is a pretty strong player, who can post up a little, and slash his way to the hole with authority.
