Re: 2008 draft?

i've always been a "hope for the best, but prepare for the worst" type of guy...that being said, let's say that we miss out on the top 2 picks...i think that after beasley and rose, the talent level drops down very very very far...

so lets say that we have the chance to take mayo or westbrook...

i saw both games today...ucla vs. cal, and usc vs. stanford...westbrook and mayo were arguably the best player in each respective game...

mayo: great handles, didn't make many mistakes, great stroke from outside, absolutely no hesitation in pulling the trigger...great perimeter defense...very smart player...but let's not get carried away, as he has had a 10 to game in the past...one glaring negative is that he absolutely refuses to take the ball to the rack...he has the tools to do it, but he just doesn't....he has the handles, power, quickness but he just doesn't...

westbrook: very underrated offensively...seems like the third or fourth option on offense but kept ulca in the game today...he could do a lot better if he was the #1 option, but a very unselfish player who plays within the system and defers to collison, love, and shipp...great at penetration and is a good shooter from outside...great defender himself...one year younger than mayo, with one more year of college experience...

the clippers need a drive and dish type guard with the ability to finish, and the ability to hit the outside shot...defense would be an added bonus...mayo doesn't drive enough from what i see...

handles: mayo
shot: mayo
passing: westbrook
penetration: westbrook
defense: tie
athleticism: westbrook
age: westbrook

i honestly think westbrook might be a better pick...although, there is a theory i'v heard on why mayo doesn't drive the lane...he knows he's only in school for one year and doesn't want to get hurt so he gets picked in the lottery...which is not a good thing at all...shows no heart...

anyways, what do you guys think???

forgot to add that they both play about the same minutes, but westbrook plays off the ball much more than mayo, but still gets more assists...
